Energy Management

Following the ending of the first stage of ESOS compliance audits, what’s next?

Large undertakings that have complied with ESOS in the first phase, now have a short window during the phase two period (6th December 2015- 5th December 2019) to look at the energy saving opportunities identified in the last report and to prepare for the next compliance date of 5th December 2019.

Suggested action plan;

  • Implement any Low cost/No Cost opportunities
  • Obtain accurate costs for other projects
    • look for board aproval for implementation
  • Ensure that all energy consumption is recorded
    • Records maintained and are accessible for future audits
  • Write and publish Energy Policy
  • Implement a strategy to complete audits in a phased pattern
    •  Phase two audits can be carried out at any time during this period
  • If the estate is large enough (number/diversity of buildings)
    • look at implementing ISO 50001 Energy management System
